  • Port Jewish Center provides a warm, down-to earth, accepting Reform Jewish environment where our members can take from and give to the temple based on their personal needs at various points in the life cycle.

    Our ten commandments are:

    • We care deeply about our extended temple family
    • We respect the diversity of our members
    • We teach our children by example
    • We give to each other, the community, our country, Israel and the world
    • We celebrate our Jewish traditions
    • We honor the culture of our ancestors
    • We experience all that Judaism has to offer
    • We include all who are interested in everything we do
    • We encourage commitment, innovation and flexibility
    • We contribute our fair share of time and money

    Rabbi’s Mini Class on Prayer

Tuesday, November 4, 11 and 18 from 8:00-9:30pm Praying with Fire:  Anyone Out There Listening?  During the three sessions of this mini-course, we will learn some of the vocabulary, choreography, history, and techniques of prayer.  We will search for the sparks of inspiration in our siddur (prayerbook) and, hopefully, find ways to deepen and find heightened meaning in our prayers.  All levels of experience are welcome.

    Progressive Dinner

Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, December 6, when PJC will be holding our annual Progressive Dinner. This night out on the town is always a delightful and not-to-be-missed event! We will begin at 6:30 with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvre hour at the home of Susan and Len Rosenberg. By 8:00, we’ll depart for dinners hosted at member homes, and at 9:30, return to PJC for a grand selection of delicious desserts. There is no charge to attend the Progressive Dinner. New members are invited as guests of the congregation, while returning members can offer to host, co-host, or bring an appetizer or a dessert. If you can be a host house, please let us know at your earliest convenience! Babysitting at PJC will be provided if requested in advance. Plan to join us for a great evening with old and new friends in the congregation! For further information, contact the PJC office at 944-7202, Elena Kogan at elkodds@gmail.com or Rochelle Potak at mikerochpw@aol.com.
