ClergyRabbi Sheila B. Goloboy Prior to her arrival at Port Jewish Center, Rabbi Goloboy served congregations in San Diego, California, and Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho. She is a corresponding member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) Responsa Committee and has presented papers in such diverse areas as sexual ethics, the Jewish imperative of Social Justice, and the engagement of marginalized teens in Jewish communal life. Happy to find that perfect combination of small congregation in a bigger town, Rabbi Goloboy looks forward to reconnecting with her Northeast roots. In addition to enjoying all four seasons outdoors, our rabbi relaxes by sinking into a good book or movie, spending time with friends, volunteering in the community, or partaking in a competitive game of Scrabble. As one might expect of a native Bostonian, she is a loyal Red Sox fan but respectful of other points of view. Rabbi Goloboy earned her Bachelor of Science, with honors, from Tufts University. She received her M.A. in Hebrew Letters in 1996 and was ordained as a rabbi from the Cincinnati campus of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1997. Her rabbinical thesis was a study of the professionalization of the rabbinate, written in the field of rabbinic codes. Following ordination, the Rabbi completed a year-long residency in chaplaincy at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, concentrating in family counseling, critical care areas, and adolescent psychiatry. Contact Rabbi Goloboy Student Cantor Jennifer Strauss-Klein Our congregation welcomes Jennifer Strauss-Klein, a fifth-year Cantorial Student, for the 5769 (2008-2009) program year. She holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Peabody Conservatory and anticipates her Cantorial Investiture in 2009. Rabbi Emerita Donna Berman |
