The Hebrew High curriculum rotates every third year. In the 5771/2010-2011 school year, our subject will be “One God, Many Faiths.” We will explore the vast field of Comparative Religion, beginning with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and their denominations. We’ll also look at how discussions and perspecitives on modern-day issues tie in to different faiths. For instance, denominations within a religion—including Judaism—can have very different takes on issues of divorce, homosexuality, or intermarriage. As time allows, we’ll also study Eastern Religions, a field to which we might not have had as much direct exposure.
