Hebrew High/MorashahStudents in grades 8 through ten attend classes on Monday evenings, preceded by a community dinner. The Hebrew High curriculum rotates every third year. In the 5768/2007-2008 school year, our subject will be “One God, Many Faiths.” We will explore the vast field of Comparative Religion, beginning with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and how they all subdivide. We’ll also look at how “Hot Topics” tie in to different faiths. For instance, denominations within a religion—including Judaism—can have very different takes on issues of divorce, homosexuality, or intermarriage. As time allows, we’ll also study Eastern Religions, a field to which we might not have had as much direct exposure. |
