Social ActionPort Jewish Center celebrates a strong commitment to Social Action through its commitment to action, education, and advocacy: Action: As a community, we engage in local collectible projects that support clothing and feeding those in need, encourage literacy, and aid in reducing our ecological footprint. Among these, we celebrate our yearly High Holy Day Food Drive and Winter Clothing Drive, both in support of the Interfaith Nutrition Network. Education: We welcome speakers and other educational opportunities which help us understand the needs of local, national, and international populations and how Jewish values inform our ongoing support of individuals and aid organizations. Advocacy: Both locally and through our affiliation with the Religious Action Center of the Reform Movement, we speak out on issues of Jewish import, but certainly not limited to the Jewish community. Issues of Social Justice and legislative activity that concern us range from economic justice to civil rights, from religious liberty to the State of Israel. We have an active Social Action Committee. For more information, contact the Port Jewish Center office.
