Building Supervisor (10-15 Hours per week)
Must be available: 4pm - 7pm on Mondays, 7pm-10pm on Fridays, remaining hours are flexible

The PJC Building Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance of the physical property while maintaining a high level of cleanliness and safety throughout the building. They will oversee the performance of outside contractors who are working alongside or in conjunction with the Building Supervisor.

Reports to: Buildings and Grounds Committee Chair(s) and Rabbi

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily building walk-through to ensure safety and proper working order of all building systems
  • Performs general custodial duties to ensure cleanliness of the building
  • Responsible for the setting up and tearing down of equipment during special events and holidays
  • Maintain outside grounds:
    • Waters outside plants as needed
    • Responsible for snow removal (sidewalks/front of building) within 24 hours of snowfall.
  • Handle basic repairs (lighting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, cleaning) and oversee performance of outside contractors. Skilled repairs will be handled by licensed tradesman.
  • Coordinate with the Temple Manager for tracking inventory and building related supply purchases.
  • Performs emergency repair services as necessary.
  • Monitor the Building Management System and report findings. Performs preventive maintenance as required.
  • Provide access to building mechanical rooms upon request
  • Report all issues to the Temple Manager.
  • Other maintenance duties as assigned by the Temple Manager.
  • Assumes responsibility for the general fire safety of the building. Will be back up to fire and police departments on a 24-hour call basis when building or ground alarms sound.
Requirements:
  • Basic knowledge of building mechanical systems, i.e., plumbing, electrical, mechanical, boiler, fire alarm, sprinkler system, and HVAC
